Using Wikispaces for the entire classroom work
I just posted to my wikispaces:

If you had my teacher in edtc615, you might have been required to create your own wikispace. If you have an account, you can sign in and view my post in the Discussions tab. If you don't, here is my post:

I signed up to wiki spaces last semester for one of my classes. We used the features of editing a dictionary list of word. It was nice being able to do this. For my group, I even edited their formatting to make our dictionary more consistent.
In any case, I think that as a teacher I would create my main webpage for all my classes to visit. However, I would want to use a Weblog and/or Wiki space to post information per class, and keep a log of these pages over the year.
However, I want to know if I would be able to use the wiki space for full classroom instruction. Any suggestions? Maybe there is another software out there.

Wikis
Our discussion on Wikis has been a fruitful one. I have to pay more attention to any new technology that creeps upon us and then becomes a norm in society or I'll be left behind. Wikipedia is one such wiki. Believe it or not, it has been around for 10 years. Did you know before there was Wikipedia there was Nupedia? It used to be an academic source, before it went viral and became a source for anyone to write. Wikis have some characteristics unlike blogs, such as editing information someone else posts. I wonder if the concept derived from the use of blogs? Hey, I don't agree with what this person is writing. He is distorting the facts. Hey, what if I were able to edit his post to put more accurate information? Is this how wikis were born? If you know, please let me know. With any new technology there are always pros and cons. In the case of wikis, determining truth from falsehood becomes a struggle. However, there are ways to overcome the negatives. I think a good outcome of wikis is that there is a great opportunity to collaborate, especially with students. What are some good opportunities for your students?

Good morning! This is the first blog I have ever created. Blogger.com makes it easy to create a blog. All I have to do is post. In this EDTC 625 class I hope to become more familiar with all of Blogger.com's features, so I can make optimal use of my blog site. The blogging tool at http://www.blogger.com/ is a very user-friendly tool, offering you easy access to create and edit blogs. If you have HTML skills or are familiar with its functionality, the tool gives you the option to edit the HTML code. I tried doing this, and found that something was needed that I didn’t know. So I decided to use the automated editing feature instead. I like how blogger.com allows you to use you Gmail account to log in an set up a blog. The templates as neat, giving the log a clean appearance. However, I think there needs to me more templates to choose from. This was my first blog I created by myself, and it was straight forward. I made my first post this morning. I am glad blogspot.com sites are not cluttered, but it will take some getting used to all of the possibilities. I am not sure I can use my blogspot as a class portal. It appears to simple for that, but maybe I can. I definitely like the idea of an inexpensive central location for the class to read, post, respond, and even upload information.
